Week Three: Assignment

All weekly assignments are due at the end of each week’s session, which is 10:00 PM PST Saturday of each week. Written assignments should be submitted no later than 10:00 pm PST Saturday of each week. There will be 5 questions each week, each one worth 2 points for a total of 10 points each week and a total of 40 points for the course. There will be NO credit given for assignments posted after 10:00 pm PST.

Each assignment must include: week number, student name, and question numbers. Each assignment should be between 2 and 4 pages, double-spaced with 12 point font. Assignments must be completed in a Word document and uploaded for submission. No credit will be given for incorrect answers. There will be no credit for assignments turned in after the deadline of each week.

Answer the following questions:

  1. Does bail benefit the criminal justice system? Defend your position.
  2. Do you think it is fair that the prosecution must turn over all exculpatory evidence against a defendant? Defend your view. Take into account the rights of the prosecution and defendant.
  3. Do you believe that the fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine extends the exclusionary rule?
  4. Is the exclusionary rule of value to the criminal justice system? Defend your beliefs.
  5. What are the different types of plea agreements? In your opinion, does plea bargaining further the cause justice, or is it harmful to our system of justice?

Acceptable formats are .doc and .docx. Only work submitted in document form will be graded. Nothing typed in the textbox will be graded. This assignment is worth 10 points.
