Situation: In October 2019, The Wall Street Journal reported that the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recruitment content was discovered on the social media app TikTok. TikTok, like many other social media sites, is being used to spread extremist narratives, radicalize populations globally, recruit lone terrorists, and encourage the creation of terrorist cells in disparate locations including the United States. The terrorists’ videos which were discovered on TikTok called for violence against Americans both in the United States and overseas.

Assignment: Come up with three intelligence questions specific to your agency’s perspective on the TikTok problem. These questions are what would be posed to an intelligence analyst working for that agency.
