Feedback and accountability are essential for reform and improvement. According to Wisniewski et Al. (2020), feedback is highly effective for enhancing the learning of new skills and tasks. Feedback allows the coaches and mentees to know how they are doing and what needs to be improved. Whereas, accountability is being held responsible for growth, performance, and outcomes (Jerrim & Sims, 2022). Accountability allows the responsible parties to monitor the growth and development of the individual. Feedback and accountability go hand in hand. Accountability requires the responsible parties to take ownership, while feedback helps them to adjust and adapt their plans in order for success. Accountability should not just be on the learners or teachers but also on the coaches and mentors.

These partnerships require the parties to be accountable not only to themselves but also to each other. How can one party hold the other party accountable if they are not giving them the tools and resources needed to be successful? The partnership requires accountability on both ends. When used together, feedback and accountability support the role of the leaders. It is the leader’s job to provide their subordinates with resources, tools, and knowledge of how to use them in order for the learner to be successful. If the learner does not use the tools and resources, then accountability will show that the leaders provided what was needed. It was the learner that did not take ownership.
