Instead, participants’ identities should be anonymized through the use of assumed names or numerical coding. Researchers should take steps to minimize any potential mental or physical harm to participants. This includes designing the survey and data collection methods in ways that do not cause discomfort or distress. The research should clearly state the potential benefits, such as contributing to improvements in nursing education, and assure participants that their participation is valuable to the field. Researchers should disclose any affiliations, grants, or external support that may influence the research’s objectivity, ensuring transparency and trustworthiness (Jacobsen, 2020).
The informed consent process should clearly explain the criteria for selecting participants, fostering transparency and fairness in the selection process. If participants are
offered any reimbursement or rewards for their participation, then it should be disclosed during the informed consent process. The informed consent should include a section that outlines any potential risks or harms associated with participating in the research. Researchers should encourage participants to ask questions at any point in the research process, providing contact information for inquiries or concerns. The research should not employ any deceptive practices. All interactions with participants should be based on honesty and transparency, with any potential deception carefully justified and minimized (Copeland, 2022).
To ensure adherence to ethical research regulations and protocols, researchers must prioritize informed consent, ensuring participants understand the research’s purpose, potential risks, and their right to withdraw without consequences. Anonymity and privacy should be maintained through data de-identification and secure storage. Protection from harm is paramount, with researchers ready to address any participant distress. Beneficence guides the research, aiming to benefit individuals and society while minimizing harm. Transparency is vital, with researchers disclosing affiliations, funding, and any conflicts of interest. Clear selection criteria, transparent reimbursement or rewards, and comprehensive risk assessments further safeguard participants’ rights. These principles, when integrated into the research process, promote ethical and responsible research, fostering trust and integrity in scientific investigations (Varagona et al., 2022).
The research article on liberal arts and ethics education in nursing follows some of the ethical requirements that include the right to participation autonomy, and the research article involves these research ethics. The other ethical requirement that is followed in this research article is the right to protect the privacy of individuals who are involved in this research article.
