Develop specifics for your audience.What is the class size, age range, grade level, subject area, demographics (gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and socioeconomic status), and special needs (English Language Learners [ELLs], specific disabilities [physical or developmental], and gifted learners)?

Determine whom you believe to be your underserved population within your audience.Provide a rationale, using at least two outside scholarly and or credible sources to support it, by providing at least two reasons why you think this population within your audience is underserved in your educational setting.

Part 2: Beliefs (one to one-and-a-half pages):

In Week 1, you were asked to examine your common beliefs by completing a survey and then comparing your survey results to the common beliefs descriptions. In this section of your paper, complete the following:

  • Compare your beliefs as it relates to your underserved population and how those beliefs have either changed or strengthened because of what you have learned in this course.
  • Examine how your beliefs could positively and negatively influence your instruction and learners of your underserved population.
    • Provide evidence from the course readings or outside scholarly sources to support your analysis of your beliefs. (You may use the same two outside scholarly and or credible sources that you used to provide a rationale above, if applicable.)



Part 3: Culturally Relevant Teaching (CRT) Strategies (one-and-a-half to two pages):

In Week 4 of this course, you examined specific strategies related to Culturally Relevant Teaching (CRT).

  • Describe three to five CRT strategies that would support your underserved population.
    • One CRT strategy must include the use of a digital or technological tool.
    • Identify each strategy and provide a rationale to explain how each CRT strategy will support your underserved population.
      • Provide evidence from the course readings or outside scholarly sources to support your explanation. (You may use the same outside scholarly and or credible sources that you used above, if applicable.)

      • Part 4: SMART GoalsIn Week 5, you were asked to develop three SMART goals for your professional growth plan where you received feedback from your peers and instructor. Be sure to review that feedback and make any necessary revisions.
        • List your three revised SMART goals in the “SMART Goals” section of the Week 6: Professional
        • Development PlanLinks to an external site.As a reminder, your three SMART goals must include the following:
          • SMART goals must be specific (S), measurable (M), achievable (A), relevant (R), and time-based (T).
          • One SMART goal must demonstrate how you will build relationships with your learners within your instructional setting.
          • One SMART goal must demonstrate how you will build positive social change that helps learners examine multiple perspectives within your instructional setting.
          • One SMART goal must demonstrate how you will implement a CRT strategy within your instructional setting.

        Part 5: Action PlanSelect one of your three SMART goals to write out a specific action plan to help you achieve your selected SMART goal. The action plan must include the following components:

        • List your selected SMART goal.
        • Complete the table located in the Week 6: Professional Development PlanLinks to an external site. template to identify the steps or tasks required to reach your SMART goal, who is responsible for each step, the deadline for completing each step that will help you achieve the time frame stated in your SMART goal, and the resources needed for each step.
        • Explain potential barriers that may prevent you from completing each step and how you plan to overcome those challenges.
        • Illustrate ways you can hold stakeholders accountable for the success of your action plan.
          • How will you assess the progress of your action plan? What tools will you use to monitor and evaluate your action plan to determine if it is working to achieve your SMART goal?
