Objectives:

1. Discuss characteristics of successful students.
2. Propose strategies to support successful completion of a program of study.
3. Evaluate the effect of plagiarism on the nursing profession 
4. Topic 2: Scope of Practice and Differentiated Practice Competencies 
5. Objectives:
   1. Compare practice competencies between associate and baccalaureate nursing education.
   2. Define the scope of practice for a baccalaureate-prepared nurse.
   3. Discuss how the general public is educated about the role of nursing.

Topic 3: Nursing History, Theories, and Conceptual Models

Objectives:

1. Describe how historical events and nursing leaders have influenced the practice of nursing.
2. Evaluate the use of nursing theory in nursing practice.
3. Evaluate the use of conceptual models in nursing practice.

Topic 4: Professional Accountability, Standards of Practice, and Professional Development

Objectives:

1. Describe the impact of the 2021 National Academy of Medicine report on the nursing profession.
2. Describe health equity and social needs within nursing practice.
3. Define professional accountability for personal self-care in nursing practice.

Topic 5: Advocacy and Activism

Objectives:

1. Discuss the benefits of belonging to a professional nursing organization.
2. Explain the importance of advocacy and activism as a professional nurse.
3. Discuss the benefits of networking within a professional nursing organization.

Assessment Description

   3. What course-related topics would you like to discuss with your instructor and classmates?  What questions or concerns do you have about this course? 
2. Discuss why you have decided to complete your BSN at this time and the concerns you have about completing your baccalaureate degree. Based on the readings in the class and topic resources, what are some characteristics of successful students and what strategies can you implement to be a successful student
3. Review the “Academic Integrity” and “GCU Plagiarism Prevention Tutorial,” located in the topic Resources. List three examples of plagiarism and discuss how plagiarizing as a student affects the integrity of a baccalaureate degree, the public perception of the nursing profession, and evidence-based practice. Describe two APA resources you will use to ensure academic integrity in your work.
