Below I provide an overview of the instructions for the cultural project, focusing on the tasks and timelines outlined. A clear understanding of these guidelines is essential for successful project completion.

Instructions Overview:

1. Country Selection and Discussion Board Post: You are required to choose a Spanish-speaking country(Panama) and post this selection on the discussion board titled “Cultural Project.” This initial step is crucial as it lays the foundation for your research and presentation.
2. Topic Selection: From the provided list of possible topics, or with approval through email communication, you need to select a topic to research, present, and write a paper -in English-. The topics should be culturally relevant and allow for both visual and written representation.
3. Timeline for Deliverables:
   • Week 4: Outline of the project is due.
   • Week 5: Presentation is due. The presentation can be in the form of slides created on PowerPoint or in a video format. Each slide should be recorded.
   • Week 7: Final paper submission
   • Week 7.5 : Oral presentation.
4. On campus class presentation format: Use a PowerPoint slides or an equivalent and present during class. This allows for visual and auditory engagement.
5. Hybrid class presentation format: As the class is conducted Hybrid, you have the flexibility to use PowerPoint slides with recorded narration, opt for a video format, or present during class. This allows for visual and auditory engagement.
6. Online classes presentation format: You have the flexibility to use PowerPoint slides with recorded narration, opt for a video format, or present during our montly optional meeting. You have the opportunity to present your project via Blackboard Collaboration Ultra or Zoom. This could be a suitable option if you prefer live interaction. since we will meet every second Tuesday of every month.ensure you reserve a time slot for your presentation.

Recommendations:

Topics and Activities Overview:

1. Immigration (Pros and Cons): Topic: Explore the advantages and disadvantages of immigration in your chosen Spanish-speaking country. Activities: Reading articles, blogs, or news sources about immigration policies, interviewing locals, analyzing statistical data.
2. Social Issues (Machismo, Infant Welfare, Environment): Topic: Delve into specific social issues like machismo, infant welfare, or environmental concerns prevalent in the chosen country. Activities: Reading scholarly articles, watching documentaries, conducting interviews with locals or a professor on campus.
3. Spanish/Hispanic Music: Topic: Examine the influence and significance of Spanish/Hispanic music in the culture of the chosen country. Activities: Listening to various genres, analyzing lyrics, comparing traditional and modern music styles.
4. Ancient Civilizations (Specific Aspect): Topic: Focus on a particular aspect of an ancient civilization in the chosen country (e.g., architecture, religion, technology). Activities: Studying historical texts, visiting museums if possible, exploring archaeological sites virtually.
5. Spanish Literature (Poetry, Short Stories): Topic: Analyze the impact of Spanish literature, such as poetry or short stories, on the cultural identity of the country. Activities: Reading parts of classic and contemporary literature, comparing themes and styles.
6. Music, Art, History, Economy, Politics (Choose One): Topic: Select a specific area from music, art, history, economy, or politics and examine its role in the country’s culture. Activities: In-depth research using books, academic journals, and online resources, attending cultural events.

Project: Your project has two parts a (A.) presentation and (B.) a written report

A. Power Point (español e inglés)

Power Point or video, if you will like to try other presentation form, please let me know, me gusta la creatividad! (creativity) It does, however, needs to be ORIGINAL. NOTE: You must record your voice in each of the slides, or sign up for the Blackboard collaboration ultra session.

Country description: Make a description of the chosen country, including the following:

I. Localización(en español): use verbo estar y preposiciones to describe where this country is located. At least four descriptions. Use pages 42, 43 of your textbook for guidance and include a map.

Ejemplo: Guinea Ecuatorial está a la derecha de la República del Congo.

II. Sitios de interés: Include three or more (3+) You can use Spanish and/or English add unknown Word in paréntesis (parenthesis), check example in page 111.

III. Personas influyentes o famosas (influent or famous people) (en español): Include three or more (3+). Spanish: Basic description using adjectives and the verbs ser and estar page 68-69. English: Any additional information you cannot say in Spanish and consider important, added in English.

IV. Comida: describe the country’s national dish.

V. ¡Qué me gusta!(en español) Write a couple of sentences in Spanish mentioning what is that you like from the country you research. Using the Spanish expression “me gusta”.

VI. Find some interesting facts about the country studied.

VII. Summary if your topic: select a topic you like or from the possible topics. Critically think about the material, analyze, and summarize your thoughts on the topic. This report must be in YOUR OWN WORDS! Don’t “cut and paste” from sources. Instead of giving a summary of a newspaper article, for example, tell what you think. You must include at least one slide on your presentation with a summary of your selected topic in English.

VIII. Make five 5 questions about your presentation to ask your classmates during class: Kahoot, multiple choice, filling the blank, cierto o falso, etc.

B. Written report (in English, however you may use Spanish if you feel confident enough, you can send it to me if you need any help)
