Takeaways:
I was interested in reading about the fact that in case study research, purposeful sampling is used, which allows researchers to gain more knowledge and insight about the research problem. While it may make this type of research more tedious in carefully selecting participants, compared to other types of research where random sampling is used, you can probably gain more insight.
I also enjoyed reading about the option of screening procedures when choosing participants. The screening procedure is a great way of avoiding any problems with the case as well as see whether or not the participant has the experience necessary for the phenomenon under investigation. This may be time consuming but is a great way of ensuring the research process goes as planned and the right candidates are being selected for the specific topic.

In educational research, it is not uncommon to find case study research being undertaken about the same phenomenon at multiple sites. These studies are commonly referred to as collective case studies, multi-case or multi-site studies, or comparative case studies. I found it interesting that a researcher could use obtained research data from different research locations to strengthen the research by showing that data obtained gained is not specific to just one location. The use of multiple research sites would eliminate the possibility of a single location possessing characteristics that would elicit specific phenomenon for that one city, thereby threatening the validity of the research.
Take-A-Way 2:
Case Study Research essentially puts the researcher in charge of what phenomenon to study. A researcher will want answer questions concerning causal explanations or why a phenomenon occurs or a descriptive question seeking to investigate what happened. There is a tremendous amount of time, energy, and effort that goes into research.
